Priest-in-Charge
Rev. Virginia Army

The Rev. Virginia Army serves as Priest-in-Charge at St. Andrew’s by-the-Sea. A familiar and beloved presence within the parish, Virginia is known for her warm pastoral leadership, thoughtful sermons, and compassionate spirit. She and her husband Tom became parishioners after moving to Little Compton in 2021.

Sebastian Bottone

Sebastian Bottone is a pianist, harpsichordist, composer, and audio engineer whose work blends musical excellence with creativity and passion. Known for both his liturgical playing and concert performances, Sebastian brings depth, artistry, and energy to the music ministry at St. Andrew’s.
Parish Administrator
Alicia Rodriguez

Alicia Rodriguez helps support the daily life and ministry of St. Andrew’s by-the-Sea through organization, communication, and hospitality. As Parish Administrator, she is often one of the first welcoming points of contact for visitors, parishioners, and the wider community.

PRIEST-IN-CHARGE
Rev. Virginia Army
Virginia has a great depth of experience. From 2008 to 2021, she was Rector of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Vernon, CT where she worked with a parish that was initially facing many challenges. The Vestry, congregation, and Virginia worked side by side to recreate a vibrant and financially sound and growing parish. From 1993 to 2008, she was Director of Pastoral Care and Volunteer Services for Day Kimball Hospital and Hospice of Northeast Connecticut, where she pursued an abiding passion for pastoral care, dignity in dying, and empowering meaningful volunteer work. During those years, she simultaneously served as Priest Associate at Christ Church in Pomfret, CT. From 1983 to 1990 she was Chaplain and Theology Department Teacher and Chair at the Kent School in Kent, CT.

Virginia graduated from Wesleyan University in 1979 and from Yale Divinity School in 1982. She was ordained a priest in 1993.

Virginia lives in Little Compton with her husband Thomas (Tom). F. Army, Jr., Ph.D, who is a Professor of History at a university and a community college in CT. They have five adult daughters and two granddaughters.

CHOIR DIRECTOR & PIANIST
Sebastian Bottone
Sebastian Bottone is an accomplished pianist, harpsichordist, composer, and audio engineer whose work bridges classical tradition with contemporary creativity. Admired for his sensitivity, artistry, and expressive musicianship, Sebastian serves as Director of Music at St. Andrew’s by-the-Sea.
A graduate of The Hartt School, Sebastian earned a degree in Composition while also studying piano performance. In recent years, he has become deeply engaged in the world of historical keyboard performance, particularly through his work with renowned harpsichord maker Steven Sørli.
Sebastian specializes in Baroque keyboard music and is a passionate advocate for composers such as Handel, Haydn, Pachelbel, Böhm, and Buxtehude. At the same time, he remains strongly connected to contemporary music as both a performer and composer, bringing a wide-ranging and creative perspective to his work.
Beyond the church and concert hall, Sebastian regularly performs and premieres original works throughout Rhode Island and collaborates on professional recording projects as an audio engineer.
At St. Andrew’s, Sebastian brings both musical excellence and heartfelt energy to worship, concerts, and parish life.
