St. Andrew's Day Dinner
Amb. Christopher Hill Talk
St. Andrew’s has a rich tradition of getting important things done! Mr. & Mrs. Wainwright and Rev. Gardner saw the need for a mission church at Sakonnet Point 100 years ago, and they involved themselves to make that happen. Mrs. McGowan was a great supporter of St. Andrew’s and she saw the need to provide housing for our visiting summer clergy, so she invested herself to see that a rectory would be built next to the church. Rev. Hebert Bolles inspired the parish to grow and to have a larger role in the community. He invited the parish to get involved and to take risks and this resulted in our move to the Commons and the creation of the wonderful facility we now enjoy. These are a few examples of the larger things we have accomplished, but every day we uphold this tradition in a variety of ways. The many ministries of St. Andrew’s help keep our church running smoothly and prepared for the future, and provide for the needs and interests of the members of our congregation. From the music and liturgy of the services to the coffee hours and caring for our ill friends, we take care of one another through our ministries. We also reach out to our community and the world with many members of our parish involved in local community support work and fund raising for local causes and our Haiti projects.
